What you need for a Work Visa

Expatriate staff all need a work visa which may take several months or more to recieve. The requirements to get a work visa involve all of the following. It is imperative that you keep a copy of all this information in addition to what you send to HIS. If it is digitalized that is even better.

  1. A flexible attitude and one that is submissive to authority.  If this is a difficulty for you, it is best to stop here and not go any further.
  2. A photocopy of EVERY page in your passport, including the inside covers, front and back.  For spouse and children, only the main information/photo pages are needed.
  3. Copy of birth certificate(s) for all members of your family
  4. Copy of your marriage license (if currently married)
  5. Your CV or Resume’
  6. Letter of Good Conduct from your local police authority. (Sometimes called a background check)
  7. Teaching Certificate, or Bachelor’s Degree and other certificates or diplomas you hold.
  8. 3 References, with complete name, address, phone numbers
  9. A digital photo of yourself (mug shot) with a red background.  Or 8 prints in size 4cm x 6cm. (can take these yourself with a digital camera and a red sheet in the background)
  10. The Indonesian Consular that is located closest to you.  If you are unsure, you can search the web.
  11. Proof of life insurance
  12. List of emergency contact information… who should we contact in case something happens to you: name, address, phone numbers, cell phone numbers, email address, and other important information that would help us to help you.  We have a form you can use if you would like.
  13. A completed Teacher Health form.  (the conditions here are extreme, and some illnesses are not conducive to this environment)
  14. A letter of intent to teach in ________ position at HIS without salary or compensation, and a desire to help support the development of Papua.
  15. It is important to have both Health insurance and Emergency Evacuation insurance as well.  This is not a requirement for the visa, but is a requirement of HIS to make sure you are covered in the event of an emergency.
