Hostels

dorm roomExpatriate families who live and work in the interior of Papua and in neighboring provinces want their children to receive a quality education, but often find homeschooling the upper grades too difficult a challenge.

To meet this need, HIS provides two family-style boarding facilities for children grades 6-12. Since the hostels are located right on campus, hostel students are close to classes and school activities.  The students living in the hostels share many great experiences and build strong bonds with fellow hostel students.

Hostel parents oversee the students' meals and medicines, and provide transportation to activities and shopping trips. They are also there to provide a listening ear, words of advice, or a shoulder to lean on. Often, the hostel parents will take their students on beach trips, waterfall hikes, and other fun excursions.

For more information about the HIS hostels, see the Hostel Handbook.

Students who are going to join a dorm, must have a Hostel Application Form filled out. This may most easily be accomlished by printing it out, filling it in, scanning it, and emailing it to HIS.
