What about the climate?
Sentani, like most of Indonesia, is located in a tropical rain forest. At 3° south of the equator, the only season is summer. Temperatures are usually in the 80’s and 90’s, but the high humidity makes it feel hotter. The school classrooms have air conditioning which helps us all teach and study better. There are weeks of many rain storms and weeks of less rain. Occasionally we’ll go several weeks without rain. Rains come in cells rather than fronts, so they come and go quickly dropping lots of water in a short time. There is a windy season around December and January which we enjoy.
