Computer Labs

The school's ever-changing computer facilities consist of nearly one-hundred networked computers, all with battery backup and satellite Internet connection. The main computer lab is split into an elementary/ middle school lab and a high school lab.

The high school computer lab contains 20 PCs for classroom instruction, research, and homework completion, with two of these specifically designated for video editing.

Word processing, creating spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and web pages constitute the core of the HIS computer courses. Computer programming and multimedia courses round out the high school computer curriculum.

The yearbook class has a computer lab of its own with nine computers especially equipped with Adobe InDesign and Creative Suite software.

The elementary/middle school computer lab, adjacent to the high school computer lab, also contains 20 networked PCs with Internet connection. The E/MS software addresses the wide range of computer skills for kindergarten through eighth grade including Freddie Fish to Microsoft Office.

The kindergarten through early grades focus on primary computer skills such as using the mouse, finding letters on the keyboard and playing with educational software. Basic typing skills are introduced in the third grade class and become the focus for grades four and five. Students also are introduced to file management, exploring the network, and Internet researching skills.

Grades six through eight focus on advanced typing skills and learn to use Mircosoft Office to complete classroom assignments. The goal is for our students to enter high school well-equipped to tackle its academic demands.
