Band Room

Band classes focus on teaching students the fundamentals of instrumental music while having fun making it. Band is a required course in grades 6, 7, and 8 and becomes an elective in grades 9 through 12. There are two concerts a year for each of the three levels: beginner, intermediate, and high school bands.

At HIS, along with standard band instruments, students can also play piano, violin, guitar, and recorder in the band program. Musically, the band has performed Veggie Tales, Beethoven, Bach, Handel, Mozart, Billy Joel, and the Beach Boys as well as tunes from famous movies and Broadway shows. The program exists to provide students who love music an opportunity to perform and hone their musical skills.
